Markillie Cemetery Memorials

Summit County Home To Revolutionary Veteran Memorials And More

Early Hudson settler and professional photographer John Markillie was reluctant to have his mother burried in a nearby plot. He instead interred her on the family farm. Five years later following his passing, the land was deeded to the local cemetery board and named the Markillie Cemetery of Hudson.

Among the most prominent memorials housed within Markillie is the monument to the Ellsworth Family. Lincoln Ellsworth (1880-1951) was a wealth financier  and explorer. He recorded the first ever flight to reach the North Pole in 1925.

Trustees from the City of Hudson manage the cemetery. Kotecki Family memorialists are certified to design monuments and memorials within the cemetery.
