Sultana Memorial Honors Union Veterans Of Civil War
Early settlers of Cuyahoga Falls and many locals are honored with Oakwood Cemetery memorials, The park is among Summit County’s largest with over 14,000 residents interred.
Prominent in the cemetery is the “Sultana Memorial” – a bronze plaque which reads “Memorial to soldiers who served in the Union Army during the Civil War. *Indicates those whose lives were lost on the Mississippi Steamer, Sultana when it exploded at Memphis, Tenn., April 27, 1865.
The City of Cuyahoga Falls manage the cemetery. Kotecki Family memorialists are certified to design monuments and memorials within the cemetery.
